Meet Courtney Gill, Operations Specialist at KCSB. It is often said that Community Bankers wear many hats and Courtney has quite a selection. Courtney began her banking career at KCSB nearly seven years ago. She began as a Teller in 2014 and moved into Operations in 2016, and into her current position an Operations Specialist in 2020.

Courtney & family

Courtney, husband, son, and two daughters.

“I started out as a Teller in 2014 and when a job opened up in Operations in 2016, I decided to make a change to advance my career here at KCSB,” said Courtney. “In my current position, I wear many hats throughout the day. I take phone calls for debit cards, online banking, and for customers to who want to just check their balances. I also do the training for employees who are new in the Operations Department and training current employees for online banking and debit cards. This position also includes inputting of loans to basic maintenance.”

Courtney wears many hats for sure! However, getting to know her customers and helping them is one of the true joys of Courtney’s job at KCSB. “What I enjoy most about my career here at KCSB is getting to know our customers on a more personal level. Making them feel more like they are talking to a friend than just a stranger. A simple ‘thank you’ or ‘it’s so nice to talk to you today’ from my customers can make my day.”

Over her tenure at KCSB, Courtney’s service to her customers has certainly been recognized. In 2017 she was selected the Ken Krum Employee of the Year and in 2019 she was chosen for the LeeRoy M. Angell Directors Award.

Courtney explains that it was her family that lead her to her career at KCSB. “My husband and I had twin girls in 2013 and the job I was working wasn’t flexible with my hours and I was working a lot of nights. I was in the Bank one afternoon making a deposit and a fellow employee told me that they were hiring and handed me an application. I had cash handling experience and knew that the hours were more of what I was wanting, and the rest is history.”

When Courtney isn’t wearing one of her many banking hats, she enjoys being outdoors with her family. “My husband TJ and I have one son and twin girls along with two German Shorthaired Pointers. We enjoy fishing, watching the kids play sports including softball, baseball, soccer and football. I also enjoy baking and trying out new recipes to spice things up!”

Here are few other fun things to know about Courtney!

  • My favorite season is Summer. I love being outside when the weather is warm. You will find us out on the boat or lounging in the pool catching the sun’s warm rays!
  • I don’t have a favorite food – I like to try new things and anything spicy!
  • My role models are my parents. They taught me to always stand for what I believe is right even if that means you are standing alone. Always to be strong and independent and I always knew no matter what they were in my corner to cheer me on or to help pick up the pieces and get myself back together.
  • TV shows that I can’t miss are Below Deck and the Masked Singer.
