Therefore, we want to shout from the Kalamazoo County State Bank roof tops – Congratulations Rose Mary on 25 years of loyal and dedicated service!
Rose Mary joined KCSB in 1996 to fulfill a clerical need in the Mortgage Department and has been established in the ever-changing world of mortgages since that time. She has made a career at KCSB of helping people with their home mortgages whether it’s a first home, larger home, investment property or a second home. She also helps customers with their mortgages when they choose to refinance their current mortgage. Rose Mary has also assisted in other areas of the Bank when needed such as opening new accounts and commercial mortgage loans.
“What I enjoy most about being employed at KCSB is being able to give attention to detail in my work and to help people obtain their dream of home ownership,” says Rose Mary. “My specialty is handling the detail. The world of mortgages includes everything involving a residential mortgage. I handle paying home insurances and summer and winter taxes included with a customer’s loan. I am involved with the annual analysis of escrow. I prepare the mortgage closing documents in great detail. I love making this happen for our customers!”
With 25 years in mortgage banking Rose Mary has seen many changes in the housing market, including the Great Recession and the rules and regulations that have changed over the years. “I have been through the flood waters of the big mortgage event when practically every rule changed. From appraisals to display of information of the forms to loan servicing changes and all the in-between pieces that were triggered at the Federal level.”
Rose Mary appreciates that KCSB is a small community bank. “We provide all the big products that other institutions offer. We service the products we provide. One of the comments that stands out to me about KCSB is that “it’s so nice to talk to an actual person.” We are happy to help and available to our customers.”
When not in the office, Rose Mary is also one of those people who is always willing to volunteer her time to help in the community. “After 25 years of experience, I find that being with KCSB also provides many opportunities to help in varied community events. We have a team that is on the lookout for events to partner with and provide assistance that make a local difference. I have helped with Burch Park events and the Senior Citizen’s as well as walked the renowned Schoolcraft Parade. Also, it was a pleasure volunteering at Swan Park Little League in the concessions. I have assisted the Salvation Army in boxing dinner ingredients for the holidays, Generous Hands school backpacks and Eagle’s Nest collection of food items.”

Rose Mary & granddaughter Tamsyn
In her spare time, Rose Mary enjoys time with her husband Steve and their grandchildren. “I also appreciate sewing, participating in church plays every Christmas and Easter, and hopefully post-Covid, to attend WMU hockey and basketball games once again.”
