Michanna Holbrook and Courtney GillCourtney Gill (the brunette) and Michanna Holbrook (the blond) celebrate 10-year anniversaries with KCSB in October. Because of their longevity and loyalty, they have a solid understanding of KCSB and are valuable sources of knowledge for other employees and customers. An added bonus, they have become great friends! As community bankers, each takes an active role in supporting the communities KCSB serves.

Courtney began her career with KCSB October 6, 2014, as a Teller in the Schoolcraft office. She was promoted in 2016 to Operations Clerk, Operations Specialist in 2020 and to her current position as Operations Manager in 2023. As Operations Manager, Courtney helps customers with online banking, debit cards, balancing checkbooks, and fraud on accounts.

The most significant changes Courtney has seen in her tenure with KCSB is with real time online banking, card protections to guard against fraud, person-to-person payments, and safeguarding customers’ information with e-statements.

“As a small community bank, we are here to assist our customers in person with all their banking needs, from childhood savings with My Money Club, teaching teens financial independence with our Classic Checking, to first time home buyers and beyond,” said Courtney. “And yet the most significant changes I have seen in my tenure with KCSB is our ability to offer digital banking to our customers. Real time online banking, card protections to guard against fraud, person-to-person payments, and safeguarding customers’ information with e-statements are just a few of the major benefits we now offer our customers.”

Courtney is active in her community by sitting on the 4 th of July Parade committee and by volunteering with the Little League in their concession stand, Schoolcraft Community Schools, Vicksburg Movies in the Park, Chili in the Park, Relay for Life, and making blankets for the Children’s Hospital. Courtney has also coached soccer for two seasons and managed a travel softball team for three years.

Michanna began her career with KCSB October 9, 2014, as a Teller in the Vicksburg office. She was promoted to Personal Banker in 2016, Assistant Branch Manager in Vicksburg in 2018, Vicksburg Branch Manager in 2020. In 2022, Michanna changed her career path and accepted the position of Security Manager & Fraud Analyst in 2022. She was recently promoted to Security & Fraud Manager where she is responsible for

the physical security and safety of KCSB offices and the Bank’s customers. As Security
& Fraud Manager, she is also responsible for fraud detection and prevention.

“We are here to protect our customers’ information and to help prevent any financial loss,” said Michanna. “However, as technology advances so too does fraud and scams. Some of the fraud we have seen has been with check fraud, mail theft, romance, imposters, wire transfers, gift cards and grandparent scams along with debit card scams. We urge our customers to be vigilant. These scams are real and happen to innocent people daily. Always know, KCSB will never ask for personal information over the phone, in a text message or email. If you have any doubts, it’s always best to walk away and call KCSB and others you can trust.”

Supporting her community by volunteering, Michanna gives her time to Generous Hands, Movies in the Park in Vicksburg, Backpack programs, and donating to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the food pantries and the school supply drives in KCSB’s communities.

Michanna reminds everyone that October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. “Please read our message below from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Also, you might start to practice counting to 10 before you respond to any phone call, text message, email or anything that seems too good to be true…or just odd. Those 10 seconds can save you from making a mistake with your financial wellbeing.”
